About the Zolotyj Klen Music Festival

“Zolotyj Klen” is an exciting celebration of Ukrainian Music, held each summer at the Ukrainian Youth Association camp grounds “Veselka”. Started in 2005, the Festival has invited internationally renowned Ukrainian Musicians and Rock Bands from Ukraine, to entertain thousands of spectators. Previous entertainers have included: Taras Petrynenko, Oleh Skrypka, VV”, Pavlo Dvorskyj, the rock band “Mandry”, "Plach Jeremiji", "TNMK" and "The Vyo".

The festival is held yearly for Canada Day. It has a wonderful family atmosphere where festival goers can meet many friends. People are free to relax on their own, or participate in the day long program. The concert starts just after lunch and lasts the entire day culminating with a musical act direct from Ukraine!

Revelers can swim, sing, play soccer, drink beer, picnic, and eat traditional “varenyky”, sausages, burgers, hotdogs and ice cream. For the kids there is a playground, with swings and slides along with bouncy castles, assorted carnival games and mini-putt golf course. The festival also has a small bazaar where one can acquire hard to find Ukrainian CDs, books, soccer sportswear and other such items.  The festival’s grand finale is a traditional fireworks show that takes place rain or shine!

“Veselka”, is located just outside Acton, Ontario – a short 40 minute drive from Toronto. This wonderful park-like setting is surrounded by forest. The camp boasts a chapel, soccer field, a near Olympic-size outdoor pool, BBQ pavilion, and a large main stage.

The goal of the festival is to gather the Southern Ontario Ukrainian community to celebrate their Ukrainian heritage through music. It is also an important venue to foster, up and coming talent. Artists who would like to perform are encouraged to come out and perform during the afternoon program. There is even a children’s program for aspiring junior singers and dancers.

The “Zolotyj Klen” Festival comes together each year thanks to the combined efforts and dedication of organizers from the League of Ukrainian Canadian Women, Ukrainian Youth Association, and the League of Ukrainian Canadians.  During the Festival, a tireless group of volunteers help with the day-long activities. “Master Grillers” tend the barbeque, servers prepare the food, volunteers are at the gates and the grounds crew maintain all the facilities during the day. Beforehand, women from the League of Ukrainian Canadian Women make close to 4000 varenyky that are the "must try" food at the festival. Volunteers willing to help at the festival are warmly welcomed!

Everyone leaves happy, especially the Grand Prize winner. Consider spending the day at the Zolotyj Klen Music Festival, relaxing in the natural setting, meeting new friends, or just listening to some great Ukrainian music. The festival is held rain or shine.  All are welcome to come down to the “Zolotyj Klen Music Festival!
